Learning does not begin or end in the classroom. To help you get a true taste of Spanish culture, a wealth of cultural activities and excursions are included in your program fee.

AIFS organizes many enriching activities to help you integrate, understand and participate in the Spanish culture. Activities usually include:

  • Spanish cooking classes – Learn to make Spain’s most famous dishes: paella, tortilla Española, and gazpacho
  • “Tapas” tour – Tapas are a very important part of the Spanish culture. Learn how to partake in this tradition on the tour
  • “Dia de deportes” – play volleyball, soccer or basketball at the university’s sports complex
  • Welcome Fiesta – get to know your fellow AIFSers and the AIFS staff in Salamanca
  • Professionally guided tour of Salamanca – to help you get to know more about where you’ll be living
  • Intercambio get together – a perfect solution to gaining fluency; practice speaking Spanish with a Spanish university student studying English. Then switch languages and help them with their English
  • Photo contests – local staff encourages you to get out and explore your new surroundings through photography. Prizes are awarded every month
  • “Chocolate con churros” tasting – an essential component of Spanish culture
  • Visit to the Jeronimus Cathedral tower – offering one of the most impressive sites in Salamanca
