Study Abroad in Limerick: Cultural Excursions
London, England (3 days)
Included only for students on the optional AIFS Flight Package
Get to know your fellow students before traveling to campus and take a sightseeing tour with a professional guide who will point out some of London’s famous landmarks including Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament and the Tower of London. You will also have free time to visit museums, see a play or stroll in London’s beautiful parks.
Includes accommodations, breakfast, entrance fees and sightseeing as indicated. Lunch and dinner are not included.
Dublin (3 days)
Included in program fee
Early morning departure for Dublin city. Explore the Temple Bar area or visit the Guinness Storehouse. The next day, take a sightseeing tour of historical and cultural Dublin. Visit the Book of Kells and enjoy free time to explore Ireland’s capital better known as Baile Atha Cliath or “Town of the hurdled ford”. Free evening to attend a concert or play in one of Dublin’s finest venues.
On the third day, enjoy free time to explore Dublin before departure for Limerick in the early afternoon.
Visit includes accommodations, breakfast, transportation and the services of a guide. Lunch and dinner are not included.
Lahinch and the Burren (day visit)

Depart by bus for Lahinch, a popular seaside village in County Clare, on the west coast of Ireland. Tea, coffee and scones will be served upon arrival. Visit the Burren, a karst limestone region of approximately 300 square miles, teeming with such geological oddities as labyrinthine cave systems, disappearing streams and lakes, tiered hillsides and oddly dissected pavements.
After soup and sandwiches at a typical Irish restaurant, hike the Cliffs of Moher, a line of sheer cliffs some 5 miles in length, extending from Lough Point in the north to Cancregga in the south. After dinner, return to Limerick by private bus.

Limerick City (day visit)

Tour Limerick City where you will visit St. John’s Castle, built in the 11th century and the centerpiece of Limerick’s historic area. Then head to St. Mary’s Cathedral, located on the banks of the River Shannon, with many relics dating from the days of the siege of Limerick in 1691. Eat lunch at a typical Irish restaurant, then take a guided tour of Bunratty Castle, a perfectly restored medieval keep, six miles north of Limerick.
Transportation, lunch and entrance fees are included.
Aran Islands (2 days)

Visit the Aran Islands located in Galway Bay off the West Coast of Ireland. The three Aran Islands of Inis Mór Island (Big Island), Inis Meáin Island (Middle Island) and Inis Oírr Island (East Island) are famous for their historical monuments, geological formation and are one of the only places in Ireland to still speak the Irish Language. Take a ferry to the island and have an overnight stay in Inis Mór to experience the history, music, dance and culture of Ireland. Hire a bicycle to explore this virtually untouched landscape and visit the Dun Aonghasa Fort which is perched on top of cliffs of 300 ft in height.
