Study Abroad in Limerick: Beyond the Classroom
Learning does not begin or end in the classroom. To help you get a true taste of Irish culture, cultural activities and excursions are included in your program fee. Past activities have included:

As Limerick enjoys an excellent location within Ireland, there are many activities to do both in Limerick or no more than 2 hours away.
- Ancient historical sites such as:
- Clonmacnoise
- Newgrange Megalithic Passage Tomb
- Bunratty Castle and Folk Park
- Giant's Causeway
- Surfing
- Fishing with local fishermen off Loop Head
- Windsurfing
- Canoeing
- Rapelling
- Horse riding classes
- The Hunt Museum, Limerick
- National Museum of Ireland
- Night at the greyhound races or horse racing
- A day out at Limerick's food and variety markets
- Guinness Storehouse
- King John's Castle, Limerick
- Take part in or become a spectator of Ireland's two sports of Hurling and Gaelic Football

University Sports Arena
The University has one of the largest indoor sports complexes in Ireland. The University Sports Arena includes a 50-meter swimming pool, an indoor jogging track, a 60-meter sprint track, four full-size courts for basketball, volleyball, badminton and indoor soccer, 45 cardiovascular machines including treadmills, cycles and cross-trainers and 35 resistance training machines and free weight stations. The arena is right on campus, a few minutes’ walk from the main academic buildings.
